BIO

“... a totally raucous and amazing show all around: psychedelic surf, punk, pop, you name it - though above all it felt like something NEW.”

- Fish Griwkowsky, Edmonton Journal

Tight-as-can-be three-part harmonic explosions wrapped in a gritty, primal, snarling exterior, Bad Buddy (Edmonton, Alberta) is quoted as being “a force to be reckoned with” (Sonic 102.9). The electric energy of their live show is only amplified by the exceptional songwriting ability possessed by the band. The female-fronted Motown-surf-punk band commands attention, painting strong, feminist, sonic pictures drawn from real-life inspirations. Picture The Shirelles meets the Ramones meets Queen.

Bad Buddy released their sophomore album Bad Buddy II (2024), an album preceded by their critically acclaimed self-titled debut LP (2021) and EP, The Sneakie Peakie (2018). Bad Buddy II (2024) peaked at #2 on CKUA (Alberta), #7 on NACC Canadian, #158 on NACC US and #24 on !earshot charts. In 2024, the band partnered with Bent Stick Brewing (Edmonton, Canada) on a Bad Buddy beer. The beer release party sold-out two days in advance, selling 156 tickets at $20 each, and sold $9/head in Bad Buddy merchandise.

Bad Buddy is Emily Bachynski (guitar, vocals), Andi Vissia (guitar, vocals), Chloe Yakymyshyn (bass), and Geoffrey Hamdon-O’Brien (drums).
